The popular chipset maker Qualcomm has officially unveiled the Adreno X1 GPU and it is actually integrated into their upcoming Snapdragon X Elite/Plus processors. The upcoming processors will powering the Windows on Arm laptops that will be launching next week.
The latest Adreno X1 is actually the very first generation of custom-designed graphics processing units for Windows on Arm and the “X1” designation says the initial generation.
The Adreno X1 features up to 6 shader cores with a total of 1536 FP32 ALUs (Arithmetic Logic Units) and the same offers the capability to process 96 texture units per cycle and deliver peak performance of up to 4.6 TFLOPS (trillion floating-point operations per second). It is also capable to process a staggering 72 million pixels of data per second.
The Adreno X1 will be compatible with DirectX 12.1 (Shader Model 6.7), DirectX 11, Vulkan 1.3, and OpenCL 3.0. We don’t have any information about game settings and test platforms at the moment of time.
The chipset maker is also introducing the latest “Adreno Control Panel,” and the same is a dedicated application for managing game optimization and driver updates.
