Welcome again to another round of our most awaited Best Of 2022 series. Today we are listing the Top 5 User Interface of Android which performed great this year. These user interface are the same from which we are familiar with, and many of us are even using one of them right now. But which UI did the best? That’s what we are going to find out.
Before we head towards our list, I just want to clear two things. First is that we are only including Android User Interfaces because other Operating Systems are not popular in India, and iOS is way ahead of all these User Interface. Second thing is that we are listing these on the basis of our own experience and by getting the opinions of our friends. So without further ado, let’s get started.
-
Stock UI (Pixel/Motorola):
The term “Greatness Lies in the Simplicity” is accurate in today’s list as the Stock UI is probably the best UI on an Android phone ever. Currently it’s used by two popular brands i.e. Google itself and Motorola. And it’s actually very good of Motorola as they are the only third party OEM who are still giving users a clean android experience. We do have experienced few software bugs in Pixel 6A this year, but Google resolved most of them now. I still remember those old times when Motorola was under Google, what legendary phones were made by these two OEMs. Anyways, we do expect Google to work on random bugs which Pixel users experience, and Motorola should improve the speed and number of updates they are giving.
-
Nothing OS (Nothing):
This year Nothing launched its first smartphone and with that their own user interface, named as Nothing OS. It came with a set of bugs in the beginning, but the amount of improvement it got with just few OTA updates is worth praising. It’s pretty much based on stock UI, it’s just the icing on the cake which makes it look different. There are no ads or bloatware, which makes it the cleanest android custom skin of 2022. The customisations and add-ons it offers are also very handy sometimes, and it’s not a load on performance. Its buttery smooth with no lag whatsoever. This is a user interface I will look forward a lot in coming years. Will it set a new benchmark or will it sink down like OxygenOS?
-
One UI (Samsung):
Samsung is probably one of the most consistent brand to provide a good user interface from past few years. From being the buggiest and most laggy interface with TouchWIZ to one of the consistent user interface as One UI, Samsung has really come a long way. It certainly not look like stock UI at all, but its own skin is very colourful, pleasant, and light. They do had few bugs but they fixed them, but none of the bug is too serious. But one thing which Samsung should focus more on is the optimisation of One UI on budget smartphones. It can be more stable and lightweight. Otherwise for midrange and premium smartphones, it’s a great user interface.
-
MIUI (Xiaomi/Redmi):
This custom skin by Xiaomi is also pretty good throughout the year. Thankfully we didn’t get any major bug on any Xiaomi or Redmi smartphone this year. They are improving the experience every year, but still there are a lot of areas where they can do great. Also, one major complaint with Xiaomi this year is the featureless MIUI 13 launched in India. Compared to Chinese MIUI we hardly got any new feature and change in UI, but the European skin also got few more features this time. It was really looking like a MIUI 12 Part 2 or something. Hope to get more features in MIUI 14 now.
-
Oxygen OS (OnePlus):
Though I got suggestions like naming it Oxygen/Color OS, but I still preferred to name it separately till they start pushing ads. The reason why Oxygen OS slept down so much this year is because there’s hardly any difference left between this and Color OS. With every version of Oxygen OS released, it’s becoming more and more like Color OS. We can also prefer it calling Color OS without ads or much bloatware. But speaking of the good things, apart from slowing down old smartphones there’s not much bugs. Hoping for better in 2023.
