During the launch event of OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro, team OxygenOS also came up on stage and discussed new features available on these latest devices as a software. Two popular features are the Screen Recorder and Zen Mode. Both features are supposed to come on previous OnePlus smartphones from the past two generations in upcoming Open Beta updates. But those who don’t want to wait for the official release, this post is for them.
Developers at XDA Forum side-loaded the APK files of Screen Recorder and Zen Mode present on the latest OnePlus 7 Pro. Both apps can now be installed on other Android smartphones as well. As of now, we don’t know the exact compatibility of these APKs, but I personally tested both on my OnePlus 3 running Android Pie community beta 2. So I guess at least Zen Mode should work ok any smartphone running Android Pie. Why I am doubting on Screen Recorder is because after installing, we can’t the app in app drawer. We have to place it in quick toggle by dragging it from the edit option (presented below the quick toggle).
In my testing with OnePlus 3, both apps run fine. For a quick refresh, the Screen Recorder can record the screen activities of your smartphone. We can adjust the resolution, bit-rate value, audio options, etc. And we can record only the internal audio as well, so it will give a good experience to record any gameplay or something. Now the Zen Mode is actually a utility app which blocks all the notifications and most of the apps so that users can take a break after using the phone continuously for hours. Calling will be available in Zen Mode though. You can download Screen Recorder and Zen Mode now.
So that’s all the information we have as of now. What is your experience of using both these apps? Are these apps supporting on your OnePlus or non-OnePlus device? Let us know in the comment section below. Also stay tuned with us for more information.
