The new devices were designed to be tough enough to survive students’ rough handling and have rubber bumpers, reinforced hinges, and mechanically anchored keyboards. Honor, Huawei sub-brand has released an update for the Honor 9 Lite(India) offering the much awaited Face Unlock feature. Honor today has started rolling out the new feature via an OTA (over-the-air) update in India that will be available to all Honor 9 Lite users by March 5. Google India on Monday announced a major update to its digital payments app, Tez which allows users to pay their utilities and other bills via the app. Launched in Sept 2017, Google Tez, only supported peer-to-peer payments via the national Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system, which allows for transactions directly between bank accounts, at no cost. The app has gotten support to pay bills from more than 80 organizations — including national/state electric, gas and water and TV/internet services with more to be added soon. Google is pumping up its efforts in connected devices for homes and businesses as competition with Amazon, Apple, and other big tech companies heats up. In a bid to keep up, Google today announced its intent to acquire LogMeIn’s Xively Internet of Things (IoT) platform. Amazon India has dropped the invite system for its smart speaker Echo lineups as of today (15th Feb 2018) and will be available to all consumers in the country. The Echo smart speakers powered by “Alexa” Amazon’s virtual assistant were launched in India for invitees last November. Three months after its initial availability in India, these smart speakers will be sold at multi-brand retail outlets as well as Amazon.in.
