Television is an essential factor of our lives and we already come across multiple revolutions in this sector. In my childhood, I used the antenna to watch Doordarshan channels in India and then we started to migrate to Cable TV for more channels including regional channels as well.
The technology shifted very quickly and we needed to have a set top box to access channels and the set top box provided high definition pictures. Then everyone started to move from cable TV to DTH and we have multiple number of DTH players in the country such as Tata Sky and more. DTH service offers better image and sound quality along with a larger number of channels. It also offers of freedom to select our preferred channel and pay for them only as well.
Having said that, the service of DTH is not able to kill the cable service completely and certain regions of the country are still dependent on cable networks.
However, the availability of unlimited Internet service in the country and the availability of online TV channels made people rethink the viewing experience and people started to stream content online. As the news channels are offering live streaming on YouTube and OTT platforms providing movies as well as TV shows. This particular facility provides users a convenient way to catch content at their convenient time and they don’t need to make payment for TV separately as everyone has an Internet connection at their place.
In this week, we would like to hear your preferred medium to watch content on your TV. Are you ready to switch cable or DTH to online streaming platforms? Share your opinion in the poll section which is attached below.
