The popular instant messaging application WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature for the beta testers and the same is the status update mention feature. So let’s get into the article to check out the new piece of information.
The latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android platform will enable users to mention a contact by simply adding the @ next to the caption bar when sharing a photo or video on the status section of WhatsApp.
The mentioned contact will be receiving a notification when you mention him or her in your status and they can be able to reshare the same with their contacts through a reshare button. The new button will be showcased next to the reply box when viewing the status.
It is working mentioning that the identity of the original creator will remain private when the mentioned contact reshare the status and the mentioned contact will not be able to get information about status viewers and it will remain private.
The report also says that the mentioned contact in your status will be able to see your status even if you remove them from viewing other status updates through the privacy settings of WhatsApp status.
There is no information about the availability of the new status update mention feature in the stable version of WhatsApp at the moment of time but we believe that the developers will be releasing the feature very soon.
