It is reported that the developers of WhatsApp or currently working on username feature and this particular feature will enable you to create a username for you and that can be used to connect on WhatsApp without requiring your phone number.
It will be similar to other social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and X among others. We don’t know when the feature will be available on the platform but it is expected to be introduced very soon.
