We are at the end of 2019, and moving to 2020 soon. This year was amazing in the smartphone market where we saw a whole lot of competition in all segments. Even we got new segments this year. From many years we are seeing that the mid-range smartphone market has a lot of competition and that certainly increased this year. And for consumers, this competition is directly proportional to better value for money.
But along with better value, what difficulty comes with is confusion. Confusion of picking the right smartphone. So here we are, with our list of best 5 smartphones in this mid-range category. Here we are considering mid-range price from ₹10,000 to ₹25,000. We will decide this list based on value for money, different consumer types, and overall user feedback from various sources. So without further ado, let’s look at TechnoBugg’s Best 5 Mid-range Smartphones of 2019 :
-
Realme X2:
Our first pick for the best mid-range smartphone of 2019 is Realme X2. Yes, I know this smartphone just launched in India, but it is getting a very good feedback from users and reviewers. It is one of the most feature packed mid-range smartphone available as of now. It’s the cheapest smartphone out there with Snapdragon 730G chipset and 30W VOOC Flash Charging. Some of it’s other key highlights are 64MP Quad Camera Setup, in-display fingerprint sensor, and AMOLED display. Though it runs on ColorOS 6.1 which is not a preferable UI, but soon it will get ColorOS 7 which should be more refined. So this would be one of the best value for money at the price of ₹16,999.
-
Redmi Note 8 Pro:
It’s not possible if we don’t mention any smartphone from Xiaomi in this list. But this year it’s Redmi, the sub-brand of Xiaomi. The Redmi Note 8 Pro has a lot to offer for the price given. It’s the first Redmi Note smartphone to have MediaTek chipset, after Redmi Note 3G. This is a very powerful G90T gaming chipset. Though it doesn’t have AMOLED panel and of course no in-display fingerprint, features like 64MP Quad Camera setup, HDR display, Gorilla Glass 5 on back, and 6GB as base RAM makes it one of the best deal. But this device is not for those techies who install custom ROMs and apps like Gcam in their smartphone. That’s because MediaTek chipset has limitations of all these things. But overall this Redmi Note 8 Pro is a beast at the price of ₹15,999.
-
Redmi K20:
This is the only smartphone in this list which didn’t have any notch on display. This Redmi K20 instead has pop-up camera for the front. Also this one only has triple camera setup on the back, but that’s more useful than the Quad Cameras given by others in this price. In this price range we hardly see a combo of normal + wide angle + telephoto lenses, but this smartphone has them all. Other than this it has a very powerful Snapdragon 730 chipset and in-display fingerprint. The only thing this smartphone lack is expandable storage, and that’s a con because the base storage is 64GB which might be low for some. But this smartphone starting at ₹19,999 is my personal preference for 2019 because it has two of my priorities i.e. no notch display, useful camera setup, and overall value.
-
Samsung Galaxy M30s:
If you recall from past few years we aren’t seeing any value smartphone from Samsung in this range. But in 2019 Samsung really turned the tables around with their Galaxy M series for budget/mid-range. This Galaxy M30s is a perfect smartphone for those who’s highest priorities are brand loyalty and good normal use. The highlight of this smartphone is it’s huge 6,000mAh battery with fast charging support. Surely it’s not giving as much value as the smartphones mentioned above, but being a Samsung mid-ranger it’s a great value. Biggest, basic, and most necessary things included here is sensors. This Galaxy M30s has all the sensors that should be present in any smartphone. And at a starting price of ₹13,999 this is the best value from any tier one brand.
-
Mi A3:
Every smartphone we listed as of now has it’s own UI. Though all those UI are good to use, but there are people who still loves the stock UI by Google itself. And that’s where Mi A3 takes a stand. Yes there are some Motorola smartphones available but Motorola is same as past few years, overpriced and no good update system. If you own a Mi A3 or you have seen reviews, you know that this smartphone has a lot of loopholes. But it has few good things in it as well, like the good update cycle of course. The cameras on both sides are also one of the best in it’s price range. So if you are a casual user who’s priority is camera and stock android with good update cycle, Mi A3 at ₹12,499 is for you. But we hope that next year the Mi A4 will compete with other best smartphone in mid-range segment.
Here are some honourable mentions which are good but can’t make their spot in this list:
- Redmi Note 7 Pro
- Realme 5 Pro
- Samsung Galaxy A50s
