It is revealed that Microsoft will be rolling out the Windows 11 24H2 version in the near future and the same will not support the AC-3 audio codec. It is actually a popular audio codec that supports multi-channel (“surround sound”) audio, and the same is also known as Dolby Digital. Having said that, the computer makers can still offer the AC-3 codec.
The new decision of Microsoft will not enable you to open files that use AC-3 codec with the Media Player in Windows 11 24H2. It is worth mentioning that you can still use a file with the AC-3 codec, and you need to manually install the codec from the Microsoft Store or use a third-party player that supports the codec.
It is also reported that the company might be removing Cortana, WordPad, and Steps Recorder from the upcoming version of Windows 11.
